Tips for Cheaper Travel

Tourism Partners…

The attached sheet carries some good tips to help you guide your guests to saving some $’s getting here. There are many things going on this year and the airlines are edging up airline prices as we speak. Many of our guests are still looking to save $’s on their trip in this economy or considering whether to take this trip…or NOT! COST IS A FACTOR! Rather than have them not do a trip this year, cancel one of the trips they’d do or shorten their stay…guiding our guests to how they can save some $’s on the airfare might just retain this guest, help them keep their length of stay etc…Feel free to use the attached guide as you see fit. It can be helpful for your reservations/front desk staff to know…it can go out as a stand alone email to market to your guest…It can be placed on your website as an aid to your guest or even individual tips can be included in emails sent to guests etc…Anything we can do to help the guest save some money might just win us this guest versus our competitors and/or help maintain longer guest stays which can help us all out.

NOTE: One of the tips is booking a wholesale rate for their trip…as long as a guest has a lodging and activity package they qualify in getting a wholesale rate if one is still available. 866.850.5296 is the number to book the wholesale fares (If Available…like regular fares actual rate depends on dates of travel and seat availability).
1) Just be prepared to give the guest your lodging confirmation number or give this directly to the air agent if you are facilitating the call. It is required to
get the wholesale air rate.
2) Have the guests desired: Travel Dates
Origination City/Airport
# of Guests Flying
Handy…The air agent will ask for this information to look into what airfares are available.

Remember: Wholesale Airfares can often (Though not always) save the guest significant $’s

Also Remember: If the guest can be flexible…even a day or so sometimes…in their travel dates they can often save some significant $’s!

Last…at the December 8, 2010 Lodging meeting I will be conducting an Air Service Training that will go over airfares, airlines etc…some more. I look to see you all their…Bring your Front Desk or other Public Sales People to the Training!
