Telluride (pop. 2,200) is located in the southwestern corner of Colorado, nestled in the spectacular San Juan range of the Rocky Mountains. Its rugged mountain beauty affords no easy freeway access, but it is easier to get here than one might think - and well worth taking the road less traveled!
Whether you decide to drive or fly, your journey to Telluride offers breathtaking views and awesome scenery. (Photo: Last Dollar Road. See "Hiking" or "Jeeping Adventures" in Activities section.) Direct flights into our airport just 10 minutes from town, smooth and scenic roads, and in-town transportation are just a few of the conveniences.
One of the greatest conveniences is that while you are here, you won’t need a car. Everything is within walking distance! Additionally, the Galloping Goose is available for a free ride within Telluride and "Dial a Ride" offers free transportation within Mountain Village.
Transportation between towns is easy! Just hop on the free gondola seven days a week from 7 a.m. to midnight during the winter and summer seasons. Gondola closes the weekend after the last day on the mountain (early April) and reopens the day before Mountain Film (end of May). Pets and bicycles are welcome, and the gondola offers access for handicapped travelers.
